Gillingham Festival
We hope to have a presence at Gillingham Festival - watch this space
Gillingham Carnival
October 2010
We are planning involvement in the children's and evening processions. Look out for Fairtrade costumes or enter in one yourself!
Other activities
In 2009 we had displays at a number of events.
In 2010 the focus of our efforts will be talking to groups and businesses to see where Fairtrade products are already being used and encouraging others to think about making "the big swap".
We also aim to complete a directory of where you can buy Fairtrade (retailers and caterers) in the town.
Planning your own event
more information / suggestions will be added here
Your event may be to introduce others to Fairtrade products or to raise funds or both
Some suggestions for events
- hold a coffee morning with Fairtrade coffee, tea, biscuits and sugar; if you have a raffle make sure the prizes are Fairtrade products (e.g. a box of Fairtrade chocolates)
- arrange a Fairtrade wine tasting with some friends (some Fairtrade wines are available from Co-op and Waitrose and can be ordered from Traidcraft)
Fund raising - who needs the money?
If your event is money raising ways you can give the money to support Fairtrade include:
- supporting the Fairtrade in Gillingham campaign (fund to be set up - send to the treasurer once one is appointed)
- support the work of the Fairtrade Foundation
- support the work of Traidcraft Exchange
Even if your event is not a public one but just for you and your family / friends / colleagues please let us know so we can keep a record of what has taken place, and also consider sending details to the press.
